FGD Project

Working on the FGD Project at Scottish Power Longannet.

Flue Gas Desulphurisation Project.

Take cooling water out of the flume, pump it through 800 m of 2.8 m dia. GRP pipe put it in through an absorber mix it with the flue gass from the units. This has  a chemical reaction that take the sulphate out of the flue gas.

The gas then goes back out and up the chimney, the sea water is returned to the flume in 1.8 m dia. GRP pipes where air is added in aeration beds which turns the sulphate into sulphur in sea water.
